Dozens Injured During Railing Collapse at Snoop Dogg + Wiz Khalifa Concert

NBC News reports that at least 42 concertgoers were injured Friday night (August 5) in New Jersey when a railing collapsed at Snoop Dogg‘s concert. The frightening incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. while the hip hop icon and rapper Wiz Khalifa were performing onstage at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden. Police reported that the metal railing holding up a segment of the crowd gave way, causing the audience to collapse and fall several feet to the concrete ground below. NBC reports that following the accident one concertgoer is in critical but stable condition and was taken to the Cooper Trauma Center. Camden police told NBC that most of the injuries sustained were either broken bones or bruises. Video footage captured at the concert reveals that Dogg and Khalifa were urging the crowd to “get up” during a song when the structural malfunction suddenly occurred, causing countless people standing in front of the stage to plunge chaotically to the ground. Both performers were quickly ushered away by security as event staff rushed in to assist those injured. The event was subsequently cancelled, though organizers announced that Saturday’s show at the BB&T arena featuring Salt N Pepa, Bryan Adams and Vanilla Ice will move forward as planned.
